In December 2023, Luke Wenke was released from the Cattaraugus County Jail on a GPS ankle monitor. A week later, he was remanded to the Orleans County Jail because the judge decided that the ankle bracelet wasn’t working out. Wenke remained at the facility until mid-August 2024, when he was transferred to MCC Chicago for a competency evaluation.
During his nine months at the Orleans County Jail, Wenke sent more than 175 letters. He received just over a dozen pieces of mail, consisting mostly of legal correspondence and letters from an old family friend (who I recall him calling a very derogatory name in past Facebook posts because he was seething with jealousy over her son’s government job). I’m guessing she either doesn’t know Wenke trash-talked her or she’s a devout Christian. I’d put money on it being one of the two.
Either way, the mail log demonstrates the disturbing extent of Wenke’s letter-writing obsession. And keep in mind — these are the records for one jail. He’s been to many. If anyone involved in this case truly thinks Luke Wenke is going to stop sending unwanted correspondence, I have to question their connection (or lack thereof) with reality. People already don’t respond to Wenke’s letters, and he keeps bombarding those people with more communications.
I certainly hope people believe me now when I say that ignoring Luke Wenke doesn’t make him fucking stop.
I highlighted incoming mail in blue and outgoing mail in green.
Luke Wenke Supposedly Has “No Drug Abuse History”
I had to roll my eyes at the intake questionnaire, which states that Luke Wenke has no previous drug abuse history but that he does have a past alcohol abuse problem. In all the years I spent being friends with Luke Wenke, I saw him drunk maybe — MAYBE — twice. Even when my party phase was at its strongest, I never knew him to be much of a drinker. And this also includes when we were travelling together, so I would’ve noticed if he was closet drinking. (I have a closet alcoholic in my family, so trust me when I say I know all the signs.)
It’s also odd that Wenke has no known drug history on his intake forms, because as much as he loves to accuse me of being a drug addict, he’s done drugs that I’ve never even tried. And he was proud of it (I have those screenshots and would be happy to post them when I’m less tired). Yet Wenke’s jail forms say he has no drug problems and is a problem drinker? That’s odd.
